Bonfire Night

Last Sunday night we decided to finally have our Bonfire.
We had to postpone it a few times because of all the windy weather we have been experiencing.
Sunday turned out to be the best day, there was hardly any wind but when we decided to light it, a fine drizzle had started.
It didn't stop us from standing around watching the fire.
My brother poured some diesel around the base to help the wood to catch fire and its also safer than petrol and he also made a trail so he didn't have to stand too close to light it.
The flames were really high to begin with because of the gum leaves that were stacked on top but it quickly died down and it continued to burn slowly overnight.
In the morning all that was left was a pile of ash, that was still smoldering, this weekend we will spread the ash around the garden just in time because it is officially the first day of Spring this Sunday.

Saturday

The last few days have been cold and windy. Perfect days for staying home.
Yesterday I made one of our favourite meals.
It is a Jamie Oliver recipe called Jool's Favourite Saturday Afternoon Pasta.
It is made with tuna so is really cheap to make and it also makes enough to last the two of us for a few extra meals.
I managed to remember to take a photo before I started eating.

Even if you don't like tuna give this a go ( I am not a fan of tuna, but you can't even taste it) it really tastes nice and I swap the lemons for oranges for a sweeter taste.

Today I have done more cooking but I wasn't quite fast enough with a camera. I am looking for more lunch time recipes, I have to admit I am not a sandwich fan, which has made my daughter not a sandwich fan, so I am looking for some quick and easy recipes to try out.
Anyway today I found puff pastry in the freezer so I cut out a circle and put it into a muffin pan, then I cracked an egg into the pastry, sprinkled salt and pepper, put it into the oven.
They tasted really good and were really easy to make, they will be put on the menu again.
Now I have to organise something for dinner, It does seem to never end, but I am grateful that I can try out new recipes, it is never dull or boring.

Saying Goodbye

Today we had to say goodbye to my parents for six weeks.
They are off on their once in a lifetime journey to Canada, Alaska and America.
It will be exciting to see all the pictures when they arrive home. My dad tends to take a lot of pictures, so I wont be surprised if there is 2,000 or more pictures to look through when they arrive home.
Early Morning Sunrise

The 5:30am  start is starting to take its toll, but my daughter has swimming lessons tonight.
Still an early night would be good because tomorrow I hope to start Spring Cleaning.

New Beginnings

It is cold outside this morning, but the sun is shining.
Spring is on its way.
There are only 11 days left until Spring is here.
I love spring, I love the weather with its sunny days and cold nights.
It holds the promise of new beginnings.
This year I am going to try and grow some vegetables.
I have tried in the past, but I have failed miserably
But I am hoping that this year will be the beginning of something that will become a lifetime passion of mine.
I am also going to try and make some Jam, I have always liked Jam but I have never made it (I will be sure to blog about when I try, whether I succeed or whether I fail)
I feel that it is time to try new things, stretch myself and learn new recipes.
I know I will fail at some but I know I will succeed at some.
It will be an interesting ride
See you tomorrow
and I will share some pictures

Falling Behind

Do you ever feel like you have fallen behind?

Today I have fallen behind, my dining table looks like this:

This is where we do school work!

Now I could put it all in washing baskets, and deal with it later, but I'm just going to continue folding the clothes and then put it all in washing baskets. I can put it away later.
At least then I have moved another step forward, instead of taking a step backward.
School work can wait 5 more minutes, maybe make that 10 minutes.

Okay more like 15 minutes later, see all done, put into clothes baskets and we now have a clean space for school work.
Add bonus I don't have to stress about folding the clothes later
Have a Great Day!
See you tomorrow
